REFLECTING ON REFLECTIONS

The mirror is a mere object of illusion

Which depicts another object of illusion

Which is the human body.

It shows us looking shoddy

And as we age and grow old

It portrays aging so stark and cold.

When we were carefree and young

The mirror did smile benevolently upon us

But as we age we begin to hate it thus;

But the mirror which is so cold and cruel

Is an illusory object which doth pamper and fuel

Our egos and then brings it crashing down

When our youth and beauty hath flown

But the mirror does not reveal the inner core

Which is the soul within that opens heaven’s door
