A TEACHER'S LEARNING

I met a complete stranger online

He did look like he needed help;

I reached out and tried to teach him fine

But his reaction did make me yelp.

He complained that by accepting,

My offer to save or teach him with my help,

It would lead to my own empowerment as per his reckoning

Me gaining power and him a slave forever in this world.

He said that if I did try to teach, save and help

I would gain power over him untold.

I then tried to explain to the little pup

That it was not why I wanted to help;

That he needed me more than I needed him

While a teacher never expected anything in return.

But he could not change his fancies and his whim;

I therefore left him to suffer and seriously burn

and walked out without trying to helping him.

A teacher sure did not need the power

That a student could ever provide

Nor did a teacher need a miserable student

Who was ungrateful for the teachers help.

If a helping teacher is considered to be selfish

Then what would the student be considered.

So let him suffer and struggle as per his wish;

While I remain permanently empowered.

A teacher’s learning is to be shared

Not for him to be empowered.
