“BELOW THE POVERTY LINE” NO MORE

We don’t have anyone “Below the Poverty Line”

Or BPL as they call it in our beloved India,

Which is our nation so glorious and so fine.

Don’t believe everything they tell ya

For they have found a sure cure

We no more have those below this line

It is just BML these days, for sure

Or should I say “Below the Mobile Line”

For it is only the poorest of the poor

Who still don’t own a mobile, so fine

While even those who appear to be poor

Are those who possess a mobile, so cheap

And waste half their livelihood on this to keep

So don’t call them “Below the Poverty Line”

For it is we who have thrust it in their face to reap

And because they use it we say, “India doth shine”
