I have always believed in the thing
that specialization is for the crows
and that a good human being
must essentially be a generalist of shows;
A jack of all trades, if not a master of all.
During my lazy school days
my dear Dad used to impress upon me
the fact that I should specialise
in any one particular field you see
while I merely phooed the idea with ease.
I therefore felt utterly vindicated
when I came across a great quotation
from Robert Heinlein which goes:
“A human being should be able to
change a diaper, plan an invasion,
butcher a hog, construct a ship,
design a building, write a sonnet,
balance accounts, build a wall,
set a bone, comfort the dying,
take orders, give orders,
cooperate, act alone,
solve equations, analyze a new problem,
pitch manure, program a computer,
cook a tasty meal,
fight efficiently, die gallantly.”
And after completely going through
the diverse and numerous activities
which he has listed out so thorough
I felt that I would be able to do justice
to at least fifty percent of them, I knows.
Therefore I am proud to be half human.
For after all specialization is for the crows.
