ON COMPANIONSHIP

He was lonely
She was so lonely,
And together they spent
A night so holy.
All they needed really
was the comfort
of their embrace, truly
No lust; no sex
Only pure companionship.
Together they rested
Locked in an embrace
Until dawn’s rays tested
The windows with a haze
Then did they return
To their lives in this world of strife
Rested, refreshed, rejuvenated
They went about their life
With precious joy within, untold
