DO WE EVER RETIRE?

Only on the destined day
Will I put down the tools of my labour
And if God one day may
Allow me to retire from worldly pursuit.
Then will I that day become busy
Busier than I ever am today
For I will that day start my journey in transit.
I will sit down with folded knees
And with eyes closed begin my labour
As I go within on my thought vehicle
Pleading to my Master, please
And spend my time busy in prayer
Even if the world doth ridicule
And know not the fruit of my labour
As I travel within into a different world
With my thoughts for company
On an engine powered by breath
Into a haze of shimmering cloud
As I listen to the song of your ephipany
Stillness so calm; I forget my breath
As the illusion is stripped
And I stand naked before my maker
Nowhere to hide and nothing to cover
Ego and all desire totally ripped
Away by my maker so clever
I went fishing for pearls within
And came up trumps with God
For I am a mere traveler within
And travel towards the Lord.
