You
don’t have to raise no banner
You
don’t have to go on a fast
You
don’t need to protest in this manner
Just
leave it all in the past.
For
whom and what are we protesting?
But
against our very own selves
For
we who are the culprits remain unrelenting
Merely
continuing to fool our stupid selves
You
don’t have to hold a candle light vigil
You
don’t have to go on a long march
You
don’t even need a Jan Lokpal bill
Just
remain within and diligently watch
For
why and how are we protesting?
But
against ourselves; the source of corruption
For
we are nothing but plain disgusting
To
our own eyes, a source of social pollution.
You
don’t then have to be a stupid slave
You
don’t have to then be addicted to money
You
don’t then consider me to be too naive
Just
observe and you’ll find the situation very funny
For
we have simply externalised corruption
But
remain blissfully unaware of the rot within
For
we have a tendency to sweep all damnation
Under
the carpet of our soul deep within
Let’s
accept corruption or change ourselves
Let’s
stop blaming others but look within
For
ultimately it will benefit ourselves
And
more so our beloved kith and kin
(This
so called poem or limerick as I would call it, is dedicated to Anna Hazare who
by his failing theatrical movement has made me think)
