The
sun ordered the earth
to
stop going around it;
and
the poor bewildered earth
did
try to stop going around it,
but
couldn’t last for long
without
the sunlight
so
hot and strong
and
shining so bright.
The
earth in darkness withered
And
life did suffer and suffocate;
But
the sun couldn’t be bothered
Nor
wanted the earth to placate;
For
the sun courted the moon
While
the earth so loved the sun.
The
sun did find out soon
That
the moon was cold and no fun
The
earth was full of life
Vibrant
and a joy to behold
Inspite
of all its strife
A
place of happiness untold
While
the moon was barren
Empty
and always so cold
Beautiful
but yet so uncarin’
Imprisoning
the sun in its hold
The
Sun did realize its mistake
And
tried to make amends
The
liberty of shining brightly it did take
Hoping
the earth would just be friends
The
Sun with its new found philosophy
Did
burn so hot & bright
For
the earth it was a catastrophe
As
the heat did vanquish its might
The
moon did soon turn jealous
Of
the Sun so fickle at heart
Its
love which had seemed so zealous
Was
just plain artificial from the start
And
so they move in eternal orbit
The
sun, the moon & the earth
The
firmament they jointly inhabit
Awaiting
doomsday’s birth.
