Oh, dear old man!
They call you grandfather
And still say only you could and
can
They say you are this nation’s
father;
But did you really want to be?
What became of you?
Did you really believe in what
you did?
Or was it just thrust down your
throat too?
You said the rulers were
misleading the people
But didn't you mislead them too
Or were you misled too by people,
People, whom you believed in and
trusted
but who didn't share your vision
true
And only used you too; to fleece
this country
For generations just as our
foreign masters did.
So did you know where your
actions would lead?
Did you know the monster your
efforts would create?
Where merit isn't respected
And the best are made to wait;
Where character and honest values
are sidelined
And deceit takes the centre
stage;
Where people use your name
Only to garner votes without
shame;
Where corruption has turned into
a way of life
While the honest have to put up
with all the strife
Did you too know the monster your
efforts would create?
Or were you also taken merely for
a ride
