Groping
for light within and Truth, which needed understanding.
I
was tired and walked with a burden of sin; indeed a heavy load,
When
I came across the Arch Angel of wisdom so demanding.
The
Arch Angel seemed troubled sad and sorrowfully mourning
I
wondered if an Arch Angel could be filled with emotion so human?
I
therefore decided to ask the angel without being demeaning
The
Angel then replied with a voice never heard but by a few men
Today
I mourn the loss of a dear old trusted and sincere aide,
Common
Sense, who had been assisting me for many years.
No
one knows for sure how old he was, or where he did reside
or
when his health did deteriorate leading to paranoid fears
His
birth records were lost in bureaucratic red tape of munificence
And
his life since then has dissolved into many emotional tears.
The
world however will remember him for his lessons in prudence
For
he taught all men to abide by their conscience without yielding to fears.
He
taught the world the importance of being the early bird
He
taught the world the importance of knowing when to call it quits
He
taught Men that Life isn't always fair; but one should abide by his word
He
taught Men not to blame others; but accept ones faults without ifs and buts
Common
Sense gave simple, sound financial policies for all to follow
Teaching
Men not to spend more than what they can and could earn
For
in death, life would then seem ever so futile and truly shallow
He
taught reliable strategies that even defunct companies did turn
The
problem started when his health began to deteriorate gradually
Due
to well intentioned but overbearing regulations set in place.
As
a result even parents could not whip their children so dastardly
Teachers
too found pupils rude and their respect vanished without a trace
Common
Sense suffered a heart attack when reports reached him
of
a four year old boy punished when he kissed a classmate;
while
Drivers who ran through traffic signals unpunished; at their whim
And
a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, caused a stalemate.
Common
Sense lost ground when parents complained about strict teachers
For
doing the job that they themselves should have done but failed to
Common
Sense lost his will to live as he watched the exploitation of preachers
And
criminals received preferential treatment while the good did suffer too
Common
Sense had a breakdown; when he couldn't defend himself from a burglar
While
the apprehended burglar then did sue him for assault and battery
He
finally gave up the ghost, after a hot cup of coffee was spilt at a restaurant
by a waiter
The
customer on whom it fell sued for a huge settlement making justice a mockery
Common
Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Mister Truth and Madame Trust,
By
his wife, Missus Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son,
Reason.
He
is survived by four stepbrothers; I Know My Rights even when I am wrong and
bust
I
want it now, right now, Someone Else Is To Blame not me and I'm A Victim of
treason
Not
many attended his melancholy, somber and sparsely attended funeral ceremony
Since
not many except the enlightened souls had truly realised that he was gone.
If
you still believe in him, continue to light the lamp of wisdom as an obituary
Or
else just join the majority and remain an unlit lamp that never did
shine".
This
was first received by me as a forwarded mail in prose form and I worked on it
to convert it into an Ode. So, let me have your feed back.....
