A NEW YEAR; A NEW DAWN

The horse is galloping forward on
With lithe beauty, grace and speed
Carrying good tidings this special morn
Bringing on its back a special year indeed

Waiting with trepidation in my heart
Waiting for the New Year with hope
Praying for a refreshing new start
Dear God with the present let me cope
Just as the dark and dirty past
You remove from the recesses
Of my mind which it does haunt
And the New Year’s joys it treasures
As your praise I do constantly chant

The year of the horse named Twenty Fourteen
That is to grow and flourish this year as a steed
With happiness at both ends and in between
Bring to one and all God’s blessings with Godspeed

WHEN 2014 COMES

He'll be comin 'round the mountain, when he comes,
when he comes 'round the mountain, when he comes,
He'll be coming 'round the mountain, when he comes,
when he comes 'round the mountain, when he comes,

He'll be coming 'round the mountain,
He’ll be coming 'round the mountain,
He'll be coming 'round the mountain
when he comes, when he comes.

He'll be drivin' six white horses when he comes, when he comes,
when he comes 'round the mountain, when he comes,
He'll be drivin' six white horses when he comes, when he comes,
when he comes 'round the mountain, when he comes,

He'll be coming 'round the mountain,
He’ll be coming 'round the mountain,
He'll be coming 'round the mountain
when he comes, when he comes.

Oh we'll all come out to meet him, when he comes,
when he comes 'round the mountain, when he comes,
Oh we'll all come out to meet him, when he comes,
when he comes 'round the mountain, when he comes,

He'll be coming 'round the mountain,
He’ll be coming 'round the mountain,
He'll be coming 'round the mountain
when he comes, when he comes.

We will kill the old black snake when he comes, when he comes,
when he comes 'round the mountain, when he comes,
We will kill the old black snake when he comes, when he comes,
when he comes 'round the mountain, when he comes,

He'll be coming 'round the mountain,
He’ll be coming 'round the mountain,
He'll be coming 'round the mountain
when he comes, when he comes.

We will all have chicken and dumplings when he comes, when he comes,
when he comes 'round the mountain, when he comes,
We will all have chicken and dumplings when he comes, when he comes,
when he comes 'round the mountain, when he comes,

He'll be coming 'round the mountain,
He’ll be coming 'round the mountain,
He'll be coming 'round the mountain
when he comes, when he comes.

We'll all be shoutin' "Happy New Year" when he comes, when he comes,
when he comes 'round the mountain, when he comes,
We'll all be shoutin' "Happy New Year" when he comes, when he comes,
when he comes 'round the mountain, when he comes,

We'll all be shoutin' "Happy New Year"
We'll all be shoutin' "Happy New Year"
We'll all be shoutin' "Happy New Year"

when he comes, when Twenty Fourteen comes.

Written with just Two and a half hours to go before Twenty Fourteen comes.

Happy New Year 2014 to all the invisible readers out there...

THE BEST GIFT THIS CHRISTMAS

The best gift you can give others
During this Christmas season
Is to love them like their mothers
Love them even if there is no reason
For it is the Christmas season
What then could be a better reason?

For God so loved the world
That he gave us his son
To turn base metal into Gold
But base metal we always will be
For we continue to kill him
As we kill the love within us true

So let’s give God and Man
A gift this Christmas season
The best gift we possibly can
The gift of love without reason

LAUGH AT YOURSELVES AND BE MERRY

If only everyone human
Were ready to make fun
At the expense of themselves
Rather than the cost of others
Then the world so blessed
Would be a better place
For us as well as everyone
Would laugh at themselves
Than at the cost of others
And thereby spare themselves
The misery of the others
So laugh at yourselves
And be happy as can be
Laugh and be yourselves
For that will make us merry
As much as the others be

CHRIST’S BIRTHDAY BLUES

We celebrate his birth

Without understanding him

We do celebrate with mirth

Without truly knowing him.

All that he did and said

Has been misinterpreted

He raised himself from the dead

But his believers have lost their head.

His name is being misused

And his death has been in vain

His name is being abused

Oh! How much he must be in pain.

They claim to follow him

They claim to worship him

They claim to adore him

But do they really live like him?

THE VOID

I am surrounded

By family, friends

And everybody loved

But still feel empty within.

A huge void remains;

What is it I seek?

Is it a woman’s body?

Come on! At fifty four

I can’t care for my own body.

Is it companionship?

Come on! I can do without it

For I wanna steer my own ship.

Then why the void deep

Why the ache so fierce

Is this what I reap?

Oh! What a curse…

PLEASE DON’T FOLLOW ME

I am not looking for followers

For I’m unworthy of being followed

I’m just the craziest of all mothers

Who in misery all his life has wallowed

So read my poems and laugh at me

But please don’t follow me

For I’m unworthy of being followed.

I’m just an idealistic pariah

Whom life has made empty and hollowed

But let me not in self pity wallow

And happily write crap you don’t follow

For this is only read by those destined

To read and not by all and sundry

But only by souls which are hungry

THE SOUL THAT WAS SOLD

I’d rather be hated

for being what I am

than to be loved

for what I not am

for love me or hate me

you just can’t ignore me

for then you ignore yourself

and waste your life on a shelf

for truth must be told

I am the soul you sold.
